I am interested in the following health related topics: cholesterol, longevity, Alopecia Areata, cave man diet

A little bit about me:I recently lost 13 pounds down to 169 (I'm 6 foot tall) using the Caveman lifestyle. I don't like to think of what I do as dieting...never have. I'm committed to the lifestyle. It has also caused my cholesterol count to drop from 222 to 184.

I've had alopecia areata for about 2 decades. It's never been devastatingly bad, but it's been an emotional annoyance. This too seems to have improved with my new lifestyle, but it's hard to make that statement with assurance. All I can say is that my hair growth has begun regenerating faster and the timing of this has occurred concurrent with my new eating lifestyle.

For the most part I've always been in good shape and have enjoyed a healthy life. I study martial arts and still play hoop with the younger guys once a week.

I have strayed from the Caveman diet, albeit it makes up 80-90% of how I eat. Last year my cholesterol while on the Caveman diet zoomed back up to 225. So...back to research. I now eat oatmeal EVERY morning, I also read Furhman's book, "Eat to Live". I cut back on meat (my meat was only fish, by the way) to 3-4 servings per week. I eat a LOT more salad. I incorporated some bread if it had a lot of fiber, but due to the Caveman diet I do this sparingly. The diet is more fun than the Cavemen diet and my cholesterol sank to 155. I'm not sure if it's the oatmeal or the increased salads or the drop in meat intake, but it worked...BIG TIME.
