Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition in which a person has trouble paying attention and focusing on tasks. It may begin in early childhood and can continue into adulthood. Without treatment, ADHD can cause problems at home, school, work, and with relationships. ADHD was once called attention deficit disorder (ADD). The exact cause is not clear, but ADHD tends to run in families. Trouble paying attention. People with ADHD are easily distracted and have a hard time focusing on any one task.
Trouble sitting still for even a short time. This is called hyperactivity. Children with ADHD may squirm, fidget, or run around at the wrong times. Teens and adults often feel restless and fidgety and are not able to enjoy reading or other quiet activities.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sometimes called attention deficit disorder (ADD), is the most common behavioral disorder that starts in childhood. It is a medical condition that should not be confused with normal excitable or boisterous child behavior. ADHD can run in families. It is thought the ADHD is caused by an imbalance of neurotransmitters (these are chemicals that transmit nerve signals in the brain) that causes the brain to have difficulty processing all the information and stimulants that it receives. Different people have different symptoms, which include lack of concentration, restlessness and more.

I am a mother of 4 children, all of whom have been diagnosed with ADHD as was I. My youngest son and daughter took medication for ADHD (Adderall). I found that it made my son very zombie-like. He showed little to no emotion and when he did it was mostly anger and aggression. I spoke with his Psychiatrist and we adjusted his meds. This unfortunately did not work. But his psych. said that the benefits of the drug outweighed the bad side effects. I slowly weened him off the meds. It takes a lot more patience to get him to do his homework and an IEP (individual education plan) at school has helped a great deal. You can request this at any public school. My daughter on the other hand takes a very low dose of adderall and is doing just fine. They are both in counseling to learn how to deal with ADHD and are doing fine. I also think that this diagnosis is used way too much. It might be a symptom to a bigger problem or something stressful the child is experiencing.

Hi Will Explain in Layman terms, as I had to try and Tell this too my Son who is Suffering with this, also I am too, but was never diagnosed, this condition is with you all of your life, but with help and assistance you can learn how to deal with it.
ADHD is to do with the Lower Quartext of the brain, this is lazy or under stimulated, this is where all recieved information is distributed to all of the relevant departments of the Brain and this is where learning difficulties comes in as the messages are not recieved/retained by the Brain,so repetitive teaching is required until the message is recieved (or until the penny has dropped). There is a Drug called Ritalin that can be used, this helps to kick start the Quartext [art of the Brain, this was given to my Son and I stopped him having it when he reached 14 Years Old, Dr's will say that it can cause slow growth, kidney problems, but with regular Blood Tests any Problems can be picked up immediately, My Son is now 6' 1" Tallest i
