  • Since you are asking the question I think you already know the answer. No one asks this question out of the blue. Being an alcoholic is different for everyone. But if it has disrupted your life or the lives of those around you in any way, I would say yeah, you might want to talk to someone about quitting or at minimum controlling your drinking. But if you are truly an alcoholic you can never drink again. Not one sip. You will learn that one drink is too many and a thousand is never enough. If this question is for someone else, all you can do is be supportive of them whatever their decision is.

  • when you start drinking every day at home. i would have said that when you start craving for a drink but that's too late and you should start worry sooner.

  • Wow... Jennim. Thank you so much for the honest and tough answer. It's never easy to read those lines. I was actually asking this question for someone else and I think I got an excellent answer. I think a lot of people here on imedix could use your wisdom. Do you have a lot of experience with substance abuse?

  • People who live with or around an alcoholic can see more clarly than the alcoholic in denial.

There is a picture on the wall of a recovery center I spent lots of hours in visiting and helping others like me, which show a picture of a river in Egypt next to some pyramids. The caption reads "Denial is not a river in Eqypt. "
