Ann, stay away from apples, oranges and grapes because of the salicylic acid (did I spell that right? ) Also, take Evening Primrose oil, 3 gels caps morning and afternoon. You can try "Melissa Supreme" by Gaia Herbs which is the herbal alternative to Ritalin. You can also be tested for food allergies as well as heavy metal toxicity which could create ADHD like symptoms. No Apples or oranges, I saw you sneaking! :)

We use two parallel programs for children with ADHD and all developmental problems. This also includes dyslexia, learning disability, auditory processing disorder, global developmental disorder, pervasive developmental disorder, autism spectrum, failure to thrive, etc. . .
The two programs go hand-in-hand. One is about what caused the developmental process to get stuck or sluggish. The other is about encouraging the developmental process to catch up when it is behind.
Most programs for children with developmental problems attempt to medicate or train away the symptoms. If a child is hyperactive or unfocused, doctors prescribe a medication which reduces hyperactivity or improves focus. This is often hit-and-miss and many children need to take many months for the doctor to find the correct medicine and correct dosage for the child. But these medications do nothing for the underlying cause. The developmental process got stuck and needs to be re-engaged.

About 30 years ago a "test" as to whether a stimulant drug such as Ritalin might be effective was to have the child drink a cup or two of strong coffee. If that helped, it was due to the paradoxical response shown by many children to some medications. It was by no means certain, but could give one an indication of effectiveness while using naturally occurring chemicals. Good luck.

I was diagnosed when I was 11 with ADHD and was put on Ridilin. I quit taking it shortly after it was prescribed and now I'm 27 and have learned that excersizing really helps with the hyperactivity part of it and reading helps my mind to focus and concentrate. So maybe try that to see if it helps. Every person is different but hey, it's worth the try. It can't hurt.

There is a body-mind treatment method called Holistic Pulsing. It is a physical treatment on a massage bed which involves gentle rocking of the body. It relaxes the nervous system and calms. It was tested in a school with kids that have ADHD and was very successful. It is a natural and very good treatment that I know works. Look it up in Google.
