  • Nutrition during pregnancy is very important, as demonstrated by the reduction of spina bifida (a type of malformation) by the addition of folic acid to the nutrition. Generally the recommendations include addition of folic acid and avoidance of some fish (in order to avoid exposing the fetus to mercury)

Recommendations about nutrition during pregnancy along with other explanations may be found here (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pregnancy-nutrition...). However, consulting a doctor (e.g. a gynecologist) may be wise in order to recognize and address special needs.
