  I myself needed to face that diagnosis and I can tell you it’s not easy. This is something that will have consequences for the rest of your life, not just your son’s. so first of all you need to know that it’s alright to feel that way. And you are not a “horrible mother” just because you think about your own life and not just your son. And don’t forget that there is a reason that it’s called “Autistic spectrum” – there are varieties to it. You don’t always get a full Autism.
