  • Hey buddy obviously you were right to tell him and that’s what we are all here for to receive and give straightforward and honest answers to honest questions. If it doesn’t makes you feel any improvement in your answer however, then I always think I should SHUT UP on bipolar, because I find people misinterpreting my answers and getting upset.

  • You may find that exposing the fact you suffer from Bipolar Disorder to your friends will show you who your true friends are. Over the years I have discovered that having a few good friends is much better than having lots of fair weather friends. Fair weather friends will only be around when everything is good, they are the ones you call when you are throwing a party or BBQ. Essentilly useless friends, they are very surfaced, talk about the news, weather, the last party etc... the second you are not well those friends will be no where to be found. focus your energy on the true friends you have that will call just to see how you are doing, the ones who will support you in everthing and every mood. Those are the friends who deserve your love and energy.

  • I haven't ever felt guilty, but embarasse? Yes. I have lost friends through this becuase I think they don't know how to handle that kind of news becuase it is unfamiliar to them. But being bipolar is a part of who you are, and it doesnt go away. It is essential to surround yourself with people who can accept it, and that can be a source of support for you. It's probably a good thing to tell people, so you can weed out the people who will stand by you and the ones who won't.
