can symptoms of adhd or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder be lowered?

My neighbor’s daughter is exhibiting symptoms of ADHD. She is almost eight years old. She is inattentive, hyperactive both at home and school and difficult to mange. This has become increasingly embarrassing for the parents. The doctor and counselor have said that she is suffering from ADHD. What should be done to lessen signs and symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or ADHD?

  • of course! there is a treatment for ADHD. it is usually a combined treatment of medicinal and behavioral treatment. and to add to that there are other alternative treatment that will help you in too.
here is a video about treatments for ADHD, an interview with a Pediatric Neurologist:

  • Prevent abuse and any rigorous punishment to children suffering from ADHD. Prevent any destructive activity and guide the child’s energy into productive and constructive channels. Do not set any stringent standards but pay attention to the child’s demands and correct with gentleness and firmness. Medical attention should be given to children with ADHD that accelerate prevention and lowering symptoms of ADHD. Psychostimulant medicines may be prescribed, to control impulsive behavior, hyperactivity and to maintain attention. These medications should be closely monitored according to the child’s school schedule. Watch for side effects due to the stimulants such as decreased appetite, stomachaches, anxiety or jittery behavior and sleep disorders. Rebound activation may recur as the medication wears off and hyperactivity resumes for a short period. Parents must not display stress while handling the child as this may disrupt prevention and lowering symptoms of ADHD.

  • Contrary to popular belief, sugar does not increase symptoms of ADHD. Omega 3 fatty acids have been known to show major reduction of ADHD-related symptoms. Side effects of prescribed stimulants should be discussed with the doctor. The pediatric doctor would prescribe antidepressant medicine to decrease aggression, depression and or anxiety and to stimulate attention. Parents should attend classes that deal with training in behavior management skills. This is usually deployed for a group of parents that accelerates parent-to-parent support. These classes have programs such as, point system, use of ‘time out’, responding with positive attention with good behavior and withholding attention with bad behavior when dealing with a child who has ADHD. This program or classes should include teachers from schools who can report in-school behavioral patterns to parents. If symptoms are detected early and medical aid deployed, this can reduce and prevent symptoms of ADHD.
