How to stay in shape in a cold weather?

I live up north, in the summer I don’t have any problems running but it gets pretty cold in the winter. And I just stop…what can I do?

  • First of all – check it up with your family doctor, just to stay on the safe side…although even asthmatic people can exercise safely in the cold – it’ll be wise to get an O.K for it.
I can tell you that one of the biggest mistakes cold-weather exercisers make is dressing too warmly. Exercise generates a considerable amount of heat and you’ll sweat and might get chilled afterwards. Do the old “onion method”- dress up in layers that you can remove as soon as you start to sweat and then put back on as needed. But avoid cotton, which stays wet next to your skin…

  • I have the same problems my friend. I do couple of things in order to keep on running:
Protect your extremities. When it's cold, blood is shunted to your body's core, leaving your hands and feet vulnerable to frostbite. Try wearing a thin pair of gloves under a pair of heavier gloves or mittens lined with wool or fleece.
Pay attention to wind chill. The wind can penetrate your clothes and remove the insulating layer of warm air that surrounds your body.when it’s windy – do an indoor activity.
