What can we expect from Chinese medicine?

My daughter is coughing from the past one and a half year. We have been giving the medicines to her but they have been of no use for her. I would like her to try her for Chinese medicine for her chronic cough. This cough is not very serious but regular coughing makes her feel bad and most of the time she gets irritated. What can we expect from Chinese medicine?
