My doctors told me i had vaginitis.
I believe this is what the doctor told me i had after giving birth to my now 2 month old baby. Well after my six week checkup they gave me a pap smear and turned out i had vaginitis..or at least i think thats what the doctor said..Anyways she said its normal in first pregnancies and to just make sure i use lubricants while having sex. I trust the doctor, but i just wanted to know if there was something i could take to get rid of it or should i see a different doctor to get it checked out. I read a bit online about it and it seems like i should be taking something for it but all my doctor said was that its normal and to just use lubricants while having sex. Anyone know what i should do? Should i go see another doctor to see what they say or just do what my doctor told me?

vaginitis is the name for inflammation of the vagina. this can be caused by all kind of things: yeast, bacterial, viral, allergic reaction. the pap smear is a test to see what is the cause. if it's bacterial the dr. will give you antibiotics, if it's yeast he'll give you anti fungal creams, if viral - time is the only cure..if allergic reaction- stopping the use of the cause.
so i guess she checked it out and it's not bacterial, but labs sometime give false results. so it might be a good idea to do another test if it doesn't get better in the next few days.
