  • I am not sure but this sounds like obsessive-compulsive disorder.(although in searching the links they do mention other conditions that have OCD associated with them)I don't know anything about obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) from experience but did search out some links that may be helpful:
    www.kidshealth.org/parent/emotions/behavior/OCD.html

    www.emedicine.medscape.com/article/918303-overview

    www.phobias-help.com/ocd_obsessive_compulsive_disord...

A mental health professional should be able to determine whether OCD behavior in children is a separate condition or symptoms of another disorder. I suggest you see your child's physician and let them help you
with this problem and see if mental health help is in order.. I wish you the best, good luck and God bless.

  • This does sound like an indication of OCD, but is it known whether or not she is being bullied or being treated in other inappropriate ways? If it were my child, I would ask the school to work with me in finding out if there is something going on in the classroom or on the playground before seeking psychiatric help. What type of ritualistic behavior is the child doing? For example, if it is turning the lights off and on several times before leaving the house then I believe asking the child why she does that would be good to see how she answers the question. A discussion with a primary doctor would be good too, to rule out any real physical problems such as a vitamin deficiency or severe electrolyte imbalance.

  • Hi,
There could be any event happened which could make her to avoid the school. Also talking to her and listening to her can help to know about her problem. Also you can try to make the child to undergo some therapies which can help her to get her to school without any complications. Talking to her pediatrician can help you to understand the problem and in turn may help to treat her by behavioral therapies.
