What is the impact of smoking and alcohol on Hypertension.

What is the impact of smoking and alcohol on Hypertension (high blood pressure). My dad is having high blood pressure and he has been strictly advised to reduce in his habit to smoke and also he has been instructed to reduce in his drinking. He has suffered a lot from his low vitality and now this high blood pressure. This has made him to stop all the salt and he has reduced his meat into a lean one.

  • Smoking undoubtedly increases the blood pressure and it also increases the risk for heart attack. Moreover a chance of having other smoking related problems also goes high. Reduction of alcohol has also benefited the person with high blood pressure.

  • It can constrict your blood vessels thus, risk of having atherosclerosis is greater. Result? Hypertension, stroke, heart diseases, kidney failure, etc.
