i already had too shot of methrotexate due to an ectopic pregnancy. quantitative still in 30 for three weeks.
I had surgery after my 1st shot because quantitative Hcg were increasing. But after my second shot my quantitatives stop at 30. What happened? Is methrotexate save for my body? Is is harmful? Should I get a third shot. I want to start treatment quickly but I have been told that I have to wait three month after the methrotexate is eliminated. How true it is. I am worry.

Methotrexate treatments can take up to a few months to show progress. It is up to your doctor to decide how long after 1 month he wants to try the medication for. The indications are usually that after the third shot of methotrexate, you would need surgery. Methotrexate has some side effects like bleeding, nausea and some more severe ones. Your doctor probably does not want to cause you any severe symptoms by having too much levels of methotrexate in your system. He is probably waiting to give you the third shot also to see if your hCG levels go down by themselves so that they don’t have to give you the last shot of methotrexate.
