I like to know how soon in life could a person begin to show symptoms of bipolar.
My daughter has been diagnosed for bipolar disorder. She always had problems, but it is just now, at her age of 36, that we know what is wrong. So I like to know how soon in life could a person begin to show symptoms of bipolar.

The first symptoms could be traced back to childhood in more severe cases, although the chances are pretty slim they would be recognizable at the time. Usually by adolesence symptoms are severe enough to require some sort of psychiatric attention, whether through medication, therapy, or both. However, the severity of all bipolar cases are varied enough that you could never really pinpoint when a person will start to show symptoms. It could also be that a recent stressful or demanding situations have triggered it, whereas earlier in life she had a better way of dealing with things. Either way, don't be too worried you didn't find out earlier. Bipolar is extremely difficult to diagnose, and is pretty frequently misdiagnosed and mistreated.
