In general, they should be below 8 and ideally, below 7 for someone with diabetes. However, if are cases, your doctor may suggest a slightly higher number if they suspect that you may suffer a hypoglycemia attack of too low blood sugar. In general, shoot for below 8 but talk to your doctor.

  If your a Diabetic Type II, try an Herb supplement containg Bitter Melon Fruit extract. It has significantly helped to get my blood sugar levels to normal and eliminate all peripheral neoropathy symptoms soon after starting it. A friend of mine, who is more serious, has been able to elliminate all use injectable insulin and also is getting excellent sugar regulation. Bitter Melon is an asian fruit and has been used for centuries to improve symptoms of high blood sugar. It is about 5 cents per pill. I use Nature's Herbs 900 mg. Available online and some places that sell Herbs. Univesity studies says that it significantly reduces resistance to insulin, which is the source of Type II. Don't know if it will help Type I at all. Give it a try, you may be amazed at how well it works for you. I have been taking it for 5 months now and I like it.
