  • Foods like almonds, cashew, artichokes and barley and oat bran are rich in magnesium. Moderate intake of these food-items can help to increase the magnesium levels.

  • Unfortunately, to date, there is no cure for nystagmus, which is often a life-long condition. Some types of nystagmus improve throughout childhood, and visual acuity may improve with the use of prism optical devices, specialty lenses and, in some cases, muscle surgery. Corrective lenses or contacts do not correct nystagmus, although they can still be used by persons with the disorder to help in correcting other visual acuity problems.
Because nystagmus responds to physical and emotional triggers such as fatigue and stress, it is important for people to maintain a healthy lifestyle in order to optimize visual acuity. In a majority of cases, people with nystagmus lead relatively normal, fulfilling lives.
They should check with their child's doctor before increasing magnesium intake. Good sources are also: Green vegetables such as spinach are good sources of magnesium because the center of the chlorophyll molecule (which gives green vegetables their color) contains magnesium. Some legumes (beans and peas), nuts and seeds, and whole, unrefined grains are also good sources of magnesium . Bread made from whole grain wheat flour provides more magnesium than bread made from white refined flour. Tap water can be a source of magnesium, but the amount varies according to the water supply."Hard" water contains more magnesium than "soft" water.
