Is it truly possible to develop bulimia or anorexia while still being overweight?

Is it truly possible to develop bulimia or anorexia while still being overweight? Wherever I research it says that in order to be considered anorexic, one must think themselves to be overweight or obese while in fact being underweight.

  • Yes, it is possible. According to diagnostic criterion, an anorexic individual must have a body mass index of 17.5 or lower. The eating disorder is not concerning weight but concerning attitude towards body image and food and dealing with other problems concerning food.
