she might have a problem absorbing it. vitamin D is something our body is able to produce. all it needs is 15 minutes of sunlight a day to create enough of it. but if that doesn't help- your baby might have a different problem that cause the deficiency. some sort of a metabolic disorder maybe?

Hi Shweet, I understand your pain. Physiological bowing of legs is a part of normal development and by 18 months of age, the leg alignment will correct itself and gets straightened and role of doctor is to diagnose if it is physiological or pathological. Children usually correct their bowing earlier or later around 4 to 5 years of age. If the bowing is found pathological by doctors, in which case it is normally due to softening of bones in children, then medical attention is warranted. If your doctor has diagnosed rickets, it is mainly due to vitamin D deficiency, but lack of calcium in diet may also contribute to rickets. Treatment would involve sufficient replacement with dietary vitamin D in the form of D3, cod liver oil and phosphates and adequately exposing the child to sunlight. Ultraviolet ray therapy and medicine will correct the condition and please be patient.
