What is a fine medicine for swelling and knee pain?

What is a fine medicine for swelling and knee pain? I have arthritis, my knee swells and it becomes painful. I have been taking “Aleve” but I do not work as well anymore. Does someone know of a better medicine otherwise maybe a better way of dealing with the signs?

  • Depending on whether this is just from arthritis otherwise whether there is gout component would depend on what you take. Some individuals are allowed to take ibuprofen [Motrin / Advil] for this, depending on the status of their stomach [this could cause GI upset]; they are still using low dose Celebrex for arthritis too. It might be time to talk with your physician about the need to advance to stronger medication. Also, a walking program [although painful at first] has been shown to finally reduce the discomfort, swelling and pain of arthritic knees. You might want to consider adding this also to your daily routine.
