What is a fine medicine for swelling and knee pain?
What is a fine medicine for swelling and knee pain? I have arthritis, my knee swells and it becomes painful. I have been taking “Aleve” but I do not work as well anymore. Does someone know of a better medicine otherwise maybe a better way of dealing with the signs?

Depending on whether this is just from arthritis otherwise whether there is gout component would depend on what you take. Some individuals are allowed to take ibuprofen [Motrin / Advil] for this, depending on the status of their stomach [this could cause GI upset]; they are still using low dose Celebrex for arthritis too. It might be time to talk with your physician about the need to advance to stronger medication. Also, a walking program [although painful at first] has been shown to finally reduce the discomfort, swelling and pain of arthritic knees. You might want to consider adding this also to your daily routine.
