Is it possible for an adult to have ADHD?

My nephew has ADHD and he was diagnosed for it; a month ago by our family doctor. Is it possible for an adult to have ADHD? Is it a disease that was not treated during the child hood days? What are the reasons by which a child can get this disorder?

  • ADHD is a disorder due to the improper functioning of the Neurotransmitters for the intake a chemical called dopamine to the brain. Adult cannot get this disorder all of a sudden as it has affected him right from his childhood days but was left untreated. There are so many reasons for a child to have ADHD. They are genetic factors, consumption of alcohol and smoking during pregnancy and by environmental factors like over exposure to lead.
