sclerosis,is a medical term for hardening of a body tissue,it is usually used to refer to hardening of blood vessels,as in atherosclerosis(hardening of arteries)or to hardening of nerve tissue due to deposition of abnormal connective tissue, which occurs in the later stages of,,multiple sclerosis,,mrfoot56

this hardening of the knee could be an indication of a rheumatoid arthritis coming up. FM patients have better chance of developing it. there are ways to slow down the process (omega-3, exercise etc.) and it might be a good idea to ask the doctor if it really is arthritis coming up.

I know about Rheumatoid Arthritis. My cousin was recently diagnosed. My mother has osteoarthritis in her knees. The problem with this is that there has been no inflammation or redness involved. Just severe pain. Arthritis was my first thought.
I've been dealing with FM for 20 years ( never say suffer!! Means it's beating YOU)....
I'm seeing an Orthopedic surgeon next week, but just don't want to hear the MS diagnosis. My friend was just diagnosed with MS.. She too has FM. Was diagnosed 5 years ago. My fear is that the FM will cause other issues I really don't want.
As far as exercise goes? kind of a catch 22. I exercise, but it causes even more pain.
thank you for the responses! I greatly appreciate it. I don't like being in the dark, waiting to see a doctor. this has helped alot.
