HPV is a viral infection and it can also lead to further health disturbances, if it has not been taken care to treat it well in advance. There are chances for cervical cancer. I think that you have been diagnosed for HPV and there is no question that you are having something else.

HPV (human papilloma virus) is indeed a virus. HPV infection is considered to be a sexually transmitted disease(STD). HPV is sneaky because it does not produce noticable symptoms such as pain, discomfort or discharge. Sometimes, it can cause growths on the genitals that are visible(genital warts) that can be easily removed in your doctor's office. However, the main cause for concern is that when this virus enters the body, it can cause changes in the cells of the cervix that may possibly cause cervical cancer later in life. Left untreated, HPV will go away on its own with little or no long term complications. Remember, HPV is an STD so you should always practice safe sex in order to prevent future infection. There is also a vaccination called Gardisil that is available for girls age 10 to 19 for prevention of HPV.
