Personally, I do not support the idea of substituting honey for sugar. Honey is sugar in a purer form; it is not overly processed, and is kept in its natural state. White sugar is made from sugar cane or sugar beets. They take this natural product and boil it, dehydrate it etc. until there is nothing left but the white crystals. A tablespoon of honey contains approximately the same amount of calories as a tablespoon of white sugar, and is not a whole lot better nutrionally than sugar.

White sugar is said to be bad for health especially to the bones. It consumes lots of calcium during the metabolism of this sugar. So they have recommended reducing the intake of the white sugar. And increase the natural substances like honey. Honey is said to have medicinal properties and was used from the ancient times as a sweetening substance.
