Should he have to try the massage therapy in treating the paralysis in face?

My uncle’s brother in law has been diagnosed with Bell's palsy. The face muscle has been affected due to this he is unable to drink water and eat properly. How this Bell’s palsy can be treated? Should he have to try the massage therapy or regular medicines are effective in treating the paralysis in face?
