My sister is very obsessive about praying to god. In every situation or every time when she gets into a small trouble, she will pray to god. The work can be done by applying little intelligence but she will ask a help from god. What can help her to reduce in this habit and make her use her intelligence?

She has made her understanding that god would help her. But the question is that does she get the help? If she gets then it would be a big challenge to treat her as the purpose gets serves for her. But if not then a thought could be applied that why not. Ask her. Let her think. Probably a change may come.

Probably nothing. People pray for different reasons: for help, guidance or comfort.(or maybe all three) What does I.Q. have to do with whether a person prays or not? Some of the brightest, most intelligent people I know not only pray, but attend church frequently; it gives them a feeling of solace and strength. People deal with problems in different ways, and prayer is a lot better than using drugs or alcohol.
