What could be the cause for the Post partum depression?

My wife has been diagnosed for Post partum depression. Few weeks ago she has given birth to twin boys. She is not happy but she is depressed. What could be the cause for the depression she is having?

    Due to the life style changes after the pregnancy could also be the cause for the PPD. Apart from this other emotional or stress factors could also be responsible for the PPD she is facing but can be treated by psychological counseling.
