Why can’t I lose weight?
Nutritionists have named not the most obvious, but very important reasons why kilos do not go away.
In early years, the metabolism is faster, and up to 30-35 years the excess fat is burnt off perfectly during physical activity. After 40-45 years, the level of testosterone in the blood begins to decrease (it is produced not only in men but also in women, but in a smaller amount). Namely, it is responsible for the rate of fat metabolism. The older you get, the less effective quick ways to thin down and the more effective systematically reduction of calorie intake.
Most of us while dieting pay attention only to the main meals. Do not take favorite fried potatoes; do not pour mayonnaise on the salad. At the same time rarely anyone thinks how many nuts, dried biscuits, cookies, seeds, candy, sweet tea and coffee you take during the day. As a result – up to 500 extra calories per day! If you cannot stay without snacks then take non-calorie foods, such as chopped carrots, turnip-rooted cabbage, celery stalk, replace the sweets with dried apricots or prunes.
Fats that are found in meat and fatty dairy food provoke weight gain, in contrast to fats derived from olive oil, avocado, fish and pumpkin seeds. Try to choose lean and easily digestible meat – turkey, chicken, and rabbit. Red meat (even lean beef, lamb and pork) should be eaten no more than twice a week.
Problems at work, with finances or in the family – the root of stress can be anything, and it affects weight changes. This applies to the stress hormone – cortisol, which increases the number of fat cells in the body. In addition, many of us have a habit of eating stress. So, before losing kilos, bring the nerves in order.
If you sleep less than six hours a day, go to bed after midnight, and get up broken in the morning, you will hardly be able to lose weight seriously and for a long time. A long-term study has shown that women sleeping less than five hours a day have a sharp kilos gain. Sleep hormone melatonin, which is produced in the dark, is also involved in fat metabolism.
Apple-like body shape
If the shape of your body is like an apple, then it will take more effort to decrease kilos number. Abdominal fat is very dense, to cope with it, you need more time. At the same time if you manage to thin down, you have more chances to keep slim.
First of all it is hormonal drugs. This is the case of those that are used in the treatment of bronchial asthma, women's diseases. As for birth control pills, the latest generation of these drugs containing micro-doses of hormones which do not affect weight. Also in some cases, use of antidepressants and some antibiotics can result in sharp increase of kilos which is difficult to decrease later.
