Side Effects
Very watery bowel movements are expected with this medication. Nausea, vomiting, bloating, or abdominal cramping/pain may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
This medication can cause your body to lose too much fluid (dehydration) and salt/minerals. Tell your doctor right away if you have any symptoms of dehydration or mineral loss, including: severe dizziness, fainting, fast/irregular heartbeat, severe vomiting, headache, seizure.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine), severe stomach/abdominal pain, bloody stools, rectal bleeding.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Uses
This product is used to clean out the intestines before a certain bowel exam procedure (colonoscopy). It is a laxative that works by drawing large amounts of water into the colon. This causes watery bowel movements. Clearing stool from the intestines helps your doctor to better examine the intestines during your procedure.

Read the Medication Guide and Instructions for Use provided by your pharmacist before you start using this product and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Follow any special diet instructions provided by your doctor. Usually, you may have a small breakfast on the day before your procedure. After breakfast, you may only drink clear liquids until after your procedure. Do not drink milk or alcoholic beverages or eat/drink anything colored red or purple. To prevent becoming dehydrated, drink as much clear liquid as you can before, during, and after taking this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Do not take any other medications by mouth within 1 hour of taking a dose of this product. This product also contains magnesium, which may bind with certain medications (including iron, tetracycline antibiotics, fluoroquinolone antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin), preventing their full absorption. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about rescheduling your other medications while you are taking this product.

Use this product as directed by your doctor, usually one dose the evening before the colonoscopy and the second dose the next day in the morning.
Before taking your dose, fill the provided container with water up to the fill line. Use the water to take your dose of the medication and finish drinking the whole amount of water over 15 to 20 minutes. About an hour after taking the dose of your medication, drink another container filled with water over 30 minutes. About 30 minutes after finishing your second container of water, drink another container filled with water over 30 minutes. Be sure to finish taking your dose of the medication and required water at least 2 hours before your procedure, or as directed.

If severe bloating, nausea, or abdominal pain occurs, drink the water more slowly or temporarily stop drinking the water until the symptoms improve.
Precautions
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: stomach/intestinal disorders (such as blockage, hole in the intestines, toxic colitis, toxic megacolon, ulcerative colitis, gastric retention, ileus), heart problems (such as irregular heartbeat, chest pain, heart failure), trouble swallowing, kidney problems, mineral imbalances, seizure, regular use of alcohol.
Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Overdose
If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away. US residents can call their local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Canada residents can call a provincial poison control center.
Do not share this medication with others.
Lab and/or medical tests (such as kidney function, blood mineral levels) may be done before or after taking this medication. Keep all medical and lab appointments. Consult your doctor for more details.
If you are unable to take this medication or drink all the water as directed, call your doctor right away. Your test may need to be rescheduled.
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company.
