Parkinson’s disease, which is found at people of advanced and senile age is characterized by such symptoms as tremor or trembling of hands, instability in vertical position, decrease in physical activity of muscles. All these disfunctions are caused by death of brain neurons and lack of a mediator called dopamine. Without appropriate drug treatment and effective rehabilitation program people with Parkinson’s disease very quickly lose ability to move independently, they become helpless and completely depended on other people.

Physical exercises at Parkinson’s disease

This type of treatment is especially effective in a complex with medications against the parkinsonism. Physical activity with moderate loads allow to keep tone of muscles without overstraining, to improve psychoemotional condition of the patient, increase ability to steady orientation of the patient’s body in space. Physical training with Parkinson’s disease requires simplicity of exercises, which nevertheless produce a complex impact on a human body. Exercises can be carried out by the patient in an acive mode or in a passive mode when, for example, the flexion movements of the patient’s hand are carried out by the trainer.

Choose the exercises with consideration of the physical activity of the patient during last months before the diagnosis. The person used to active life style (bicycle riding and walks, active games, mountains hiking, swimming) needs more than a classical set of exercises. An expert can include in the physical therapy program additional exercises or games based on results of inspection of the patient and his/her individual wishes.

The most complicated symptoms for the patient are movement disorders, which manifest themselves not only at rest (rest tremor), but at performing of simple tasks, and reduction in swiftness of movement due to constant muscles overstrain. They need exercises to relax muscles, otherwise woodiness increases gradually and pain grows.

To reach positive results with physical therapy, it’s necessary to follow the simple rules:

  • train every day;
  • hold strictly to the training plan made by the trainer or your neurologist;
  • after completion of all exercises you have to feel pleasant fatigue, not full exhaustion;
  • there have to be exercises for all muscles groups, special attention has to be paid to muscles of the top and lower extremities;
  • all exercises should be carried out in a quiet rhythm. The rhythm can be set by music, counting aloud or silently.

Physiotherapy

It allows to intensify exchange processes, improve blood circulation, influence brain activity reflexly. Effective methods of physical therapy at treatment of the Parkinson’s disease:

  • magnetotherapy;
  • ultrasound;
  • mineral baths;
  • electrosleep.

    Physiotherapy and massage help the patient with parkinsonism to lead their habitual life longer, improve quality of life, reduce risk of depression.
