What causes rosacea on the face?

Diseases of the skin result not only in physical, but in emotional suffering. A red face, a beet-colored nose, a mesh of blood vessels – an unpleasant feeling is experienced by an elderly man, looking at himself in the mirror. And the reason of all these troubles in not the age, but the disease named rosacea.

The international term “rosacea” is a euharmonic word associated with a rose, but the disease does not make a person more beautiful. This problem was first mentioned as a disease in the XIX century. But there are still a lot of questions in this regard.

In case of rosacea people often pay attention at the red nose. There are a lot of sebaceous glands in its skin; at a certain stage of the disease development they become activated. The increase in sebaceous glands, proliferation of connective tissue results in the nose deformation, leading to a so-called rhinophyma development – it is when the nose becomes red, tuberous, and loose. This problem occurs both in women and in men. But more often, such problem affects women: redness of the facial skin, pronounced vascular network, acne eruptions in certain areas – on the cheeks, forehead, and chin. Usually pink acne occurs in middle-aged and older people. If young people have such disease symptoms as red areas on the face, this is a reason to draw a close attention to one’s health.

The cause of the disease is the disturbance of derma metabolic processes. This is a kind of manifestation of a vegetative neurosis. Most often, people with vessels located close to the skin surface are predisposed to rosedrop. They have cutaneous flushing. Exacerbations of rosy-drops are developed under the first rays of the spring sun. Initially, the redness disappears on its own, but over time it becomes resistant and the face acquires a permanent pink color. In case of enlarged vessels there is a more active dehydration of the derma and a feeling of dryness can be observed.

In case of long-term untreated rosacea, an additional activation of the sebaceous gland in the hair follicle of the problem zone occurs. An inflammatory process is developed there, resulting is a secondary infection. At this stage, same as with acne vulgaris, the process involves a sebaceous gland actively. Here you need a gentle treatment which removes inflammation, resolves nodules, and soothes the vascular reaction.

Under the influence of prolonged inflammation, the sebaceous gland becomes more active. At this stage, treatment can be similar to the treatment of conventional acne, including the drugs to be taken.

During exacerbations, alcohol-containing tonics are not recommended, as well as washing down with water. There is a wide range of preparations for sensitive skin: there are preparations for removing dermal irritation, reducing the vascular reaction, to create the correct pH (healthy derma has a weak acid reaction – unfavorable for bacteria, pH 4.2-5.5 :), but there are professional methods for deep cleaning. Cleansing of the derma is achieved due to surfactants, which do not have such an alkaline effect as soap and shampoo.
