After a cataract extraction it's necessary to observe the recommendations of the doctor in order to completely restore your eyes: i.e. keep to a certain diet, refuse alcohol, limit physical activities and apply special eye drops. The medicines used at this stage strongly differ from what is prescribed in conservative treatment. Medicamentous impact on cataract is aimed, first of all, at rebalancing nutrients, relieving the eye tension etc. The main task of such medicines is to protect the crystalline lens from opacities formation. At the same time a therapy against other eye diseases and their consequences is to be applied duly.

Most likely, one of the following medicines will be offered:

Vitabakt – it possesses a wide range of antimicrobial actions. It's effective for treatment of many infectious diseases developing against the background of the influence of cocci, chlamydias, fungi, viruses, etc. It has no contraindications except for individual intolerance of components. The cost of the medicine is acceptable for most patients.

Diklof

Diklof – it eliminates eyes irritation, inflammatory processes. It acts as analgesic and febrifugal substance. It's traditionally used in ophthalmology after an eye surgery and for elimination of post-traumatic consequences. This medicine is also used at cataract surgery as Diklof prevents contraction of the pupil. The average cost of this medicine is usually quite low.

Naklof serves as a good prevention of inflammatory processes as a result of traumatizing eye structures. It produces analgesic and antifebrile effect by reducing morbidity, unpleasant feelings in eyes, excessive dryness. It's similar in action to the Diklof medicine as it prevents contraction of the pupil during surgical treatment. The average price is not very high.

Indokollir

Indokollir – it influences prostaglandins synthesis directly. These are the substances which provoke inflammatory processes in eyes. Unlike other drugs it has a big list of contraindications. Patients can't use it in case of bronchial asthma, sharp rhinitis, rash and some other diseases.

Maksitrol

Maksitrol – along with standard anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect, it also has antihistaminic properties. It acts on the basis of two antibiotics that provide a broad spectrum of activity. This drug promotes decrease in hypostases and infectious inflammation after surgical treatment of a cataract. It's a prescription medicine as Maksitrol has the big list of contraindications. The price is a little bit higher than of other medicines mentioned above.

Tobradex

Tobradex – it contains a broad spectrum antibiotic which has anti-inflammatory, febrifugal and antihistaminic effect. It helps to adapt the eye to the implant. It eliminates the hyperpermeability of vessels and decreases the probability of hypostasis. The cost of medicine is not much higher than this of other drugs mentioned above.
