Dr Allen Porter
Dr. Porter is a native of South Carolina and an avid fan of his beloved Gamecocks. He attended The Hammond School in Columbia as a high school student and excelled in academics as well as athletics. He went on to earn his Undergraduate Degree from the University of South Carolina receiving a BS in Biology. Dr. Porter graduated with Honors from the Medical University of South Carolina located in Charleston, South Carolina receiving his Doctorate of Dental Medicine Degree. After practicing with a Pediatric Dentist in Charleston, Dr. Porter furthered his education with specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia receiving a Masters of Science degree in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr Porter’s research while attending the Medical College of Virginia titled “Insurance Status and Dental Disease in Virginia School children” was a public health survey to attempt to locate the underserved children who lack the basic access to dental care in the state …of Virginia.
Dr. Porter’s research was published in the November 2007 journal Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Porter is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the South Carolina Dental Association as well as the Coastal district and the NC Pediatric Dental Association.
Dr. Porter practiced as a Pediatric dentist for 2 years in South Carolina before joining his friend and colleague, Dr. Hollowell, at Triangle Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Porter enjoys scuba diving, running, swimming and reading, and has done extensive fishing along South Florida’s gulf coast. He enjoys visiting his relatives and boating on his time away from N.C. in Charleston, S.C., during the warm summer months.
