Becky J. Fredrickson, M.D., Ph.D., is originally from Council Bluffs, Iowa, and received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering with the highest distinction from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Fredrickson conducted biomedical research as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of London in England. Dr. Fredrickson received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (Institute of Biosciences and Bioengineering) from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Fredrickson completed her ophthalmology residency training at the Baylor College of Medicine Cullen Eye Institute following an internship at Christus St. Joseph Hospital in Houston. During residency, she received the Everett L. Goar Award for ophthalmic research.Dr. Fredrickson is a board-certified ophthalmologist practicing comprehensive ophthalmology including cataract surgery, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, ocular infections, and …dry eye. Dr. Fredrickson also performs cosmetic ophthalmology including Botox, Juvederm and blepharoplasty surgery (eyelid surgery).
Dr. Fredrickson is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Ophthalmologic Association, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association. Her husband is an electrical and robotics engineer who works at NASA Johnson Space Center. The couple has two children and reside in Pearland, Texas. Dr. Fredrickson and her family enjoy traveling and outdoor activities. They are active members of their church.
