Dr. Behnam Tehrani is a specialty care cardiologist board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. He joins Inova Medical Group with over eight years of clinical experience. He has a special interest in the percutaneous management of coronary and peripheral arterial disease. Through his training, he has extensive experience with, and is proficient in, transradial cardiac catheterization, using the wrist as his default mode of access for both elective and emergent coronary interventions. This less invasive approach has been proven to improve patient comfort with earlier ambulation. Most recently Dr. Tehrani completed his interventional cardiology fellowship at George Washington University, having trained under Dr. Jonathan Reiner and Dr. Ramesh Mazhari. Dr. Tehrani became interested in cardiology because of the unique opportunity the field offers to use procedural skills with constantly evolving technology and evidence based medicine …to provide care for patients. His goal is to help educate his patients and their families regarding the importance of cardiovascular health both for primary and secondary prevention, so that they are empowered with the information needed to carry out productive lives. A native of Potomac Maryland, Dr. Tehrani currently resides in Northern Virginia with his wife. In his spare time he likes to swim, read and travel abroad.
