I was nervous about switching OBs late in my pregnancy, but Dr. Day made me feel like I’d been his patient for years. At my first appointment, he didn’t just rush through the usual questions—he actually paused when I mentioned my anxiety about delivery and said, ‘Let’s talk through that now so it’s not weighing on you.’ And he meant it. We spent half an hour going over every little fear, and by the end, I felt like I could actually do this.
What really got me was how he handled my birth. When things didn’t go as planned, he explained everything in real time without sugarcoating but also without scaring me. At one point, I remember him saying, ‘We’re going to call an audible here—nothing’s wrong, we’re just adjusting,’ and somehow that made all the difference. Even my husband, who’s usually skeptical of doctors, left saying, ‘That guy’s a legend.’
Now, months later, I still appreciate how he checks in beyond the basics. At my last visit, he asked how breastfeeding was going, then followed up with, ‘And how are you doing with it?’ Not many doctors take the time to see you as more than just a chart. If you want someone who’ll treat you like a person first, he’s the one.
