Dr. Catherine Jeeyoung Hwang, MD

Dr. Hwang is particularly interested in orbital disease and facial aesthetic reconstruction, and investigates the causes of and potential treatments for Graves orbital disease. Dr. Hwangs research in collaboration with Dr. Raymond Douglas and Dr. Terry Smith has identified a novel autoantibody which may promote the disease. Current investigations include a new clinical test for the presence or severity of disease and potential treatment alternatives specifically targeting the inflamed tissue. research investigating the causes of Graves disease, Dr. Hwang collaborates on several projects investigating functional eyelid and orbital disorders.
