Dr. Schaffer was born, raised and educated in Nebraska, before continuing his training and practicing in the South. He has spent the last 17 years in the Southeast region including 10 in the Clearwarer/Tampa area. Dr. Schaffer was in the Army Reserve Medical Corps for 16 years including 2 deployments, the most recent to Iraq in the summer of 2009. In July of 2010 he returned to Birmingham, AL to continue a private practice career. Dr. Schaffer is married and has three children that keep him busy when he is not tending to patients needs.
