Cardiac electrophysiology is a field where I can apply medical and surgical skills to diagnose and treat challenging, complicated conditions and watch my patients improve dramatically. It’s very rewarding.”
Shortly after the launch of the Cardio-Hospitalist Program at Methodist Hospital, Dr. Pederson performed the life-saving, emergency procedure to implant a permanent pacemaker in Benito’s heart. Watch Benito’s story.
Dr. Pederson is also experienced in performing a cutting-edge Convergent Maze, or Hybrid, procedure combining cardiac electrophysiology and minimally-invasive cardiac surgery to restore normal heart rhythms in patients with certain types of atrial fibrillation. Dr. Pederson and Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. James Garrison perform the hybrid procedure at Methodist Hospital.
