Meet Dr. David R Reeves
David Reeves, obtained his DMD from Southern Illinois University/School of Dental Medicine in 1985. Dr. Reeves entered the active duty Army as a resident in the AEGD/1 program at Ft. Riley, KS. He practiced as a general dentist for 9 years before entering periodontal residency in 1994. Dr. Reeves received his Certificate in Periodontics from the U.S. Army Periodontic Residency at Ft. Gordon, GA and his M.S. in Oral Biology from the Medical College of Georgia in 1997. COL Reeves completed his board certification with the American Board of Periodontology in 1998.
While stationed at Ft. Knox, KY, Dr. Reeves taught as an adjunctive faculty member at the University of Louisville Graduate Periodontics Residency. COL Reeves received the Surgeon General’s “A” prefix designator in 2002 and was selected by The Army Surgeon General to act as Consultant to The Surgeon General for Periodontology in 2003 until his retirement in 2006. COL Reeves most recently served as …the periodontal mentor for the AEGD/2 year program and Chief of Periodontics at Ft. Hood, TX. His last year on active duty COL Reeves also acted as Deputy DENTAC Commander. He has lectured all over the world within the Army system providing continuing education for general dentists and periodontists.
Dr. Reeves holds the Surgeon General’s “A” designator and served as Chief Consultant to the Army Surgeon General in Periodontology from 2002-2006
Dr. Reeves moved to Leander, TX in 2001 with hopes of opening private practice in Cedar Park upon his retirement. His dreams have been fulfilled and he is ready to serve the population of Northwest Austin much like he did his country for 21 years.
Dr. Reeves is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Past Ambassador to the American Board of Periodontology Foundation, Southwestern Society of Periodontists, Texas State Society of Periodontists, Texas Dental Association, Capitol Area Dental Society. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology (board certified in periodontics.)
He actively participates in our local community and served as his Homeowner’s Association President and is active within his church. He presently is a part-time professor at Austin Community College. He was chosen as a Texas Super Dentist in 2008 and 2010.
