Dr. Deeni Bassam, MD

Dr. Bassam is a local native of the Northern Virginia region. Raised in Fairfax, Virginia, Dr. Bassam attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry. He continued his education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine where he graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in 1997. His studies led him to an internship in General Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois which prepared him for an Anesthesia residency at the New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center in New York City.
After completing anesthesia residency in New York Dr. Bassam was then accepted into the Advanced Interventional Pain Management Program at Texas Tech Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas. Dr. Bassam spent a year learning advanced interventional techniques in pain management from some of the foremost experts in the field.
Following training Dr. Bassam was named Director of Pain Management for a …busy teaching hospital in New York City where he was responsible for building a hospital based pain practice in an area that was lacking in any similar services. With great enthusiasm, Dr. Bassam decided to move back to the area he considers home in Northern Virginia and launch The Spine Care Center in early 2005.
As Medical Director, Dr. Bassam is excited and delighted to be part of the medical community and to be back in the Northern Virginia area as a whole. Dr. Bassam has a large and extended family throughout the DC metro area and enjoys spending his extra time horseback riding, reading, and scuba diving.
