Dena Arumugam, M.D., FACS, is a board certified gastrointestinal surgeon who is an expert in minimally invasive laparoscopic, robotic, and bariatric surgery. Dr. Arumugam has vast experience in a wide range of inpatient and outpatient procedures. You will find Dr. Arumugam to be attentive, caring, kind, and knowledgeable in formulating a customized surgical plan that best suits each patient.
Prior to joining HMH, Dr. Arumugam has served many roles as a leader, researcher, and volunteer in the medical field. Dr. Arumugam has been an Instructor at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center Department of Surgery as well as an Assistant Professor at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Dr. Arumugam has extensive research experience with a multitude of general surgical diseases, but her interests focus on improving outcomes after bariatric surgery. Her goal is to provide safe and excellent care for all of her patients while using the most up to date tools and …techniques available. She is currently a member of many societies including the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Obesity Medicine Association.
Dr. Arumugam is an excellent addition to our faculty surgery practice in HOPE Tower and will be working alongside a team of seven experienced, board certified surgeons. As the practice is located adjacent to the hospital, Dr. Arumugam will have access to the latest technology and a full range of support services for patients and their families.
