Dr. Emeka Nwodim, MD

Emeka Nwodim, M.D., is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with a sub-specialty in Spine Surgery. Dr. Nwodim graduated Cum Laude from Temple University with a degree in Chemistry and Political Science. He then went on to complete his Medical Degree and Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine. Dr. Nwodim is a Maryland native and performed his Spine Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center and R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD. During his spine training he also participated in the non-surgical and surgical care of veterans at The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore. Dr. Nwodim is currently in private practice as a member of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics and a partner at the Bay Area Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine division. His areas of expertise include general orthopaedic surgery, the majority of spine disorders, degenerative spine conditions, spinal decompression, traumatic spine injuries and …scoliosis. Dr. Nwodim’s current hospital affiliations include Anne Arundel Medical Center, University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center and SurgCenter of Glen Burnie. He currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Nwodim is the recipient of numerous academic and professional awards and has authored and co-authored multiple orthopaedic research articles. One of Dr. Nwodim’s top priorities in medicine is to promote a healthy environment for both patient’s and his surrounding team of healthcare professionals at all levels. Dr. Nwodim looks forward to helping improve patient’s quality of life and educating them on how to maintain it. In his spare time, Dr. Nwodim enjoys spending time with family, mentoring young adults, exercising, listening to music, watching movies and relaxing on the beach when time allows.
