Dr. Banimahd’s goal is to provide and deliver care for our current opiate crises that is evidence-based. This includes medication-assisted treatment, a chronic disease model paradigm, and meaningful long term recovery. Dr. B is the founder and clinical director of Zephyr Medical Group. This is an outpatient medical clinic devoted to the full spectrum of care for substance abuse, with particular and significant effort at correctly managing outpatient medication-assisted treatment for opioid abuse. This includes opiate blockers such as Vivitrol, in addition to traditional Suboxone type products. Dr. B is also the founder, CEO, and Clinical Director of American Addiction Institute of Mind and Medicine. This is a non-profit Intensive Out Patient (IOP) program for substance abuse and mental health. The philosophical cornerstone of the program is that opioid abuse psychosocial treatment should be couched in medication-assisted treatment. Furthermore, care should be driven by clinicians, …robust psychosocial intervention including vocational and educational programming, and finally community outreach. The goal of treatment is to get the client out of treatment and into the community in a tailored but timely manner. He is also affiliated with “Suboxone friendly” sober living which addresses the significant need in Orange County for sober living homes that accept patients on medication-assisted treatment without any judgment.Previous to private practice and business, he was a Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at both UCLA/Kern Medical Center, and, more recently, UC Irvine School of Medicine. In this role, he trained dozens of medical students, researchers, and young physicians. He has participated in numerous research projects and is a published academic author of multiple papers in the field. He was named one of Orange County’s top influencers in 2017 by the OC Register. He currently has a YouTube channel, the goal of which is to educate the public on addiction, dispel misinformation, and really, it serves as a platform for people to ask and get answers to common questions related to addiction and substance abuse without the cost/insurance barrier typically associated with getting such questions answered.Dr. B Addiction Recovery
