Gara Sommers, M.D., is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist who has over 20 years of experience in diagnosing and managing gynecologic cancer. Dr. Sommers has been treating the patients in our local community since 2013 and has recently joined the Hackensack Meridian Medical Group family. Dr. Sommer’s clinical areas of expertise include the treatment of Cervical Cancer, Malignant Neoplasm of Female Genitourinary Organs, Ovarian Cancer, and Uterine Cancer.
Dr. Sommers is an expert in robotic surgery, and about 70% of the surgeries she completes are robotic. Robotic surgery enhances precision, flexibility and control during operations and offers patients a less-invasive alternative to traditional open surgery as well as a quicker recovery period. She provides each patient with a comprehensive evaluation, personalized treatment plan, and ensures open communication with patients and their families.
