Gerald Harkins M.D. is a Board- Certified Gynecologic Surgeon. Dr Harkins grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania and was an athletic trainer at Penn State University. He obtained a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Baylor University through the United States Army. He attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine and completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the United State Army. At the completion of his military service, he returned to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. During his military career, he served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was Chief of Gynecologic Services stationed at the United State Army Hospital in Baghdad. Dr Harkins established the section of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He teaches advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques and is one of the early leaders in “Single Site” surgical techniques in Laparoscopic …Gynecologic Surgery. He serves as an educator and proctor for Gynecologic Surgeons learning advanced techniques in laparoscopic surgery.
