Endodontist Dr. Hoffer received his dental degree in 1980 from SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.  Upon graduation he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Navy.  During his four years in the Navy he was stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois; Subic Bay, Philippines; and Norfolk, Virginia.  During his time in the Philippines he traveled extensively throughout much of Asia. After completing his military obligation, Dr. Hoffer enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania where he completed a two year residency in Endodontics, receiving a Certificate in Endodontics in 1986.  He is a recognized Specialist in Endodontics by the American Association of Endodontics.Â
Dr. Hoffer enjoys memberships in the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, Essex County Dental Society and the Newark Dental Study Club.  He is an attending endodontist at Overlook Hospital in …Summit, NJ.  He volunteers his time there to teach the dental residents, and oversees their work with patients in the dental clinic.  Dr. Hoffer has a deep passion for the field of endodontics and his practice.Â
When he is out of the office, Dr. Hoffer enjoys spending time with his family.   He and his wife, Cherryl, have been married since 1981.  They have two daughters, Dina and Abigail.  Dina recently graduated from Columbia University, and Abby is in High School.  Dr. Hoffer’s varied interests include aerobic exercise and strength training, computer technology, and traveling with his family.
