John Tyner, MD, is a cardiothoracic surgeon and medical director of cardiac surgery at Scripps Mercy Hospital. His practice encompasses adult cardiac and thoracic surgery. Dr. Tyners interests include open and minimally invasive approaches to mitral valve repair, Cox and modified Maze procedures, valve repair and replacement, apical-aortic conduit for aortic stenosis, cardiothoracic clinical research and coronary artery bypass surgery. He also specializes in general thoracic surgery including lung and mediastinal tumors. Dr. Tyners research focuses on surgical arrhythmias, mitral valve repair, outcomes with aortic and mitral valve replacement, and methods to reduce transfusion with heart surgery. Dr. Tyner is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of numerous other professional societies, including the American College of Phlebology, American College of Surgeons, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery …Study Group.
