Dr. Judah Zelig Weinberger, MD

Using a combination of bioengineering and pharmacological approaches, we are studying methods to modify proliferative vascular responses after various vascular manipulations, such as angioplasty, stent implantation, or arteriovenous fistulae. For example, our lab pioneered the use of intravascular radiation therapy (brachytherapy) for the prevention and treatment of restenosis following angioplasty and stenting. Members of the lab have included basic science post-doctoral fellows, clinical cardiology and vascular surgery fellows, and bioengineers. Design, and optimization of novel devices, as well as improvement of existing cardiovascular devices are major interests of this lab.
