Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I chose to specialize in GI because I find it to be a dynamic field with a very broad spectrum of disease entities. The continuous developments in treatment options to help our patients are exciting.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
I have a special interest in small bowel diseases and GI oncology.
Where did you study?
I graduated from Rawalpindi Medical College, in Pakistan for medical school and completed residency at the University of Connecticut. I went on to complete my fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Iowa.
What certifications do you hold?
I am board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy traveling, music and playing golf.
Do you have any special honors or recognition in your medical career that you would like to share?
I graduated in the top 10% of my class.
Do you fluently speak any other …languages in addition to English?
I am fluent in Urdu and Hindi.
